Policies

Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for members to create relationships and refer business to each other, without imposing unnecessary restrictions or expenses.  The following is a brief summary of our current policies and procedures:

Meeting Format:

Each meeting begins with members giving a 30-second introduction of their business.

After that, two members are given 10 minutes each to describe their businesses in fuller detail.  Our current facilities allow us access to the Internet, a computer and a projector, so it’s very easy to do PowerPoint presentations or show members videos or websites.

Then it’s time to pass referrals, leads and to share other promotional activities that members have performed during the week (such as MOMs – meetings outside of meetings.)  This is the best part!

We end with a brief business meeting.

Leadership:

Network leadership rotates every six months with the exception of the Vice-President, who automatically assumes the role of President after his/her six months as VP.  We also have committees to handle concerns such as Membership and Publicity.

Current Officers are:

President:  Travis Kempf (Crane & Crane Real Estate)
Vice-President:  Michelle Dobbins (Celebrations Event Planning, & Silpada Jewelry)
Secretary: Diana Ratliff (Your Friend on the Web)
Treasurer:  Brad Marcks (AAA Insurance)

Attendance:

Members are expected to attend regularly; 12 absences a year are permitted, unless extenuating circumstances apply.  Since only 1 person/business can fill the slot for each business category, it’s not fair to all concerned to have that slot occupied by someone who seldom attends.

We DO occasionally cancel meetings (such as near the holidays, or if an event such as the Business Showcase is on the same day as our meeting) or hold meetings at member’s businesses, so please contact a member before attending.

Dues:

$100/year if paid for by the end of January; otherwise $10/month.

Business Opportunities:

If you represent a company with a business opportunity attached, such as a direct sales/network marketing company, you are NOT permitted to promote the opportunity itself as a member of SMBN.  Only your product or service.

For More Information:

Please contact an existing Member or email Diana Ratliff before attending a meeting if at all possible, to make sure that there are no conflicts.

To Join:

If you attend a meeting or two and become interested in joining, you need to complete a Membership Application.  Download Membership Application here.

Our Membership Committee will review your application and double-check with current members to make sure there are no problems or conflicts.  If everything is okay, they’ll contact you with their decision.  At that point you will be expected to pay your dues.
